So since the launch of Create & Breathe a few weeks back now some crazy things have happened – In chronological order:
The site was featured www.spyline.de

This meant I shot up to number 9 on the www.designcharts.com, leading to a massive spike in hits. Last week I was at 21 and now I’ve sadly dropped out the charts, but still it was exciting while it lasted.

After seeing my site on the www.designcharts.com the delightful Lizette Lanuzo asked me to do an interview www.devlounge.net that you can view here.

I decided that after the positive reaction to the site that I’d put it up on www.ilovenewwork.com to see how this affected traffic and receive some further feedback.

www.dirtymouse.co.uk and various other smaller creative blogs have also picked it up and featured it.
Although I don’t know many of the people that have taken time to feature my work it is very much appreciated. Thankyou all.
Anyway, it looks like this year has started well now I just need to find some work after my week away boarding…
First of all apologies for my lack of posts since September. It was a ridiculously crazy final few months of the decade.
In short I decided to leave Clinic and go full-time freelance, I had an amazing two years there and have a lot of love for those guys but I felt I was going stagnant and needed a new challenge.
For those of you are considering doing something similar i’ve made a short checklist of what you need to be doing.
* Get yourself a recruitment agent, preferably through a recommendation.
* Find your first brief with help from your agent, preferably at an agency with ambition to match yours.
* Find an accountant, one that enjoys meetings at the pub, again preferably through a recommendation.
* Come up with a company name, again, at the pub with a few of your closest mates.
* Set up that Limited Company, the accountants job.
* Set up a business bank account, this takes a lot longer than you’d think.
* Then be set to Invoice, Invoice Invoice!!
* Once you’re in a stable position it’s time to begin the promotion of your creations.
Create & Breathe was born out of this process with the dev help of Marc Hibbins.

In terms of self-promotion i’ve made a few changes to how things work here, gleeding is my general homepage, Create & Breathe shows all of my portfolio work and my blog will continue to be a place of insight, inspiration and general musings.
If anybody wants any help or my personal recommendations on how to begin as a freelancer i’d more than willing to lend a hand.
As for what i’ve been up to for the past few months I guess I’ve been quite lucky as the original week-long contract at Elvis Communications turned into a three month stay as their supply of Virgin Media ads that needed completing was never-ending.
Anyway, Happy New Year to you all.
